RANDOM NOTES

We are just one week away from the Cathy Patrick Memorial Show next Saturday the 28th at the fairgrounds in Millersburg, Ohio. Rabbit Breeders from all over the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states are planning to attend, so it promises to be one of the best shows of the year. All the judges and registrars are donating their services and all of the breed sanctions have also been donated. For more info click "here."
I do plan to attend the show and take photos. I'm not sure if I will be bringing José, my lionhead to show, but we'll jump that bridge when we come to it.

A big topic on the Rabbit forums these days in the announcement by Petsmart to begin selling "dwarf" rabbits at 24 test stores. It seems that this pet store company that has traditionally encouraged adoption for pets is contradicting it's own past ideals with this move. While the rabbits will be spayed and neutered before they are sold and the cost of the rabbits will be near $100, there is still go guarantee that the rabbits will be sold to resposible pet owners who will know the proper care and feeding the pets. Lets face it, Petsmart is in business to make money. I doubt that they would be experimenting with rabbits in the first place if their wasn't some profit motive involved. They claim the rabbits will come from "reputable" breeders, but nobody on any breeder forum that I've read have been asked to sell to them, thus it is most likely the bunnies will come from a rabbit mill. If you feels as I do that this is not a good move for them, fire them off an e-mail and let them know.
